YOU CAN SIT WITH ME on Northern Australia’s Remote Indigenous Radio
Sophie Sparks founder of the YOU CAN SIT WITH ME program is bringing her expertise and compassion to TEABBA radio with a new six-part series designed to support parents and kids in remote Indigenous communities, airing every Monday from 8 September at 10am until 8th December. Covering vital topics such as inclusion, school avoidance, childhood anxiety, routines for homework and bedtime, navigating unkindness, and understanding children’s behaviour, this series offers practical advice, community stories, and heartfelt encouragement for building connected, resilient families.
Championing inclusion for every child
Sophie Sparks, draws from 30 years of teaching in diverse communities across the world to empower children, parents, and educators. Her evidence-based initiative has transformed over 1,000 schools and community groups by combating bullying, school refusal, and social isolation. The simple, powerful message—“You can change a child’s life simply by saying ‘YOU CAN SIT WITH ME!’”—inspires kindness, empathy, and genuine belonging.
TEABBA — connecting the Top End
Broadcasting across 29 remote Indigenous communities, TEABBA (Top End Aboriginal Bush Broadcasting Association) is so much more than radio—it’s a heartbeat for the region. TEABBA’s reach extends through local broadcasters, delivering relevant news, music, local events, and now, Sophie’s series directly to families who need it most. The station also supports local communities with broadcast training, equipment upgrades, and technical expertise—making access to quality content possible and sustainable.
