You Can Sit With Me- School and Parenting Yarn
At TEABBA, our You Can Sit With Me – School and Parenting Yarn is all about bringing families, carers, schools and communities together in a safe and respectful way.
We yarn with 29 communities across the Top End of the Northern Territory, creating space for parents, Elders, carers and educators to share their experiences, strengths and challenges around parenting and schooling. These conversations aren’t lectures, they’re genuine yarning circles where everyone’s voice matters.
Through these yarns, we talk about:
Supporting our kids to feel strong and confident at school
Building positive relationships between families and teachers
Attendance, learning and wellbeing
Cultural strength and identity in education
Everyday parenting challenges and solutions
Our approach is grounded in culture, respect and listening. We believe strong families build strong schools, and strong schools build strong futures for our children. By connecting communities and creating open conversations, You Can Sit With Me helps make sure every parent feels heard, supported and empowered.
Because when we yarn together, we grow together.
