Term 2 2024 – YOU CAN SIT WITH ME DAY 7th June
YOU CAN SIT WITH ME Day is a special occasion dedicated to promoting kindness, inclusivity, and empathy. It is a day where schools, sporting groups and communities come together to create an environment where everyone feels welcomed and accepted.
Date: 7th of June
Theme: Touch of Yellow. Participants are encouraged to wear a touch of yellow as a symbol of sunshine, happiness, and positivity.
Activities:
YOU CAN SIT WITH ME Day Assembly: Kick off the day with a special assembly dedicated to YOU CAN SIT WITH ME Day. This assembly can include presentations, speeches, and videos emphasising the importance of kindness, inclusivity, and spreading positivity. Whole-school Picnic: Organise a picnic where students, teachers, and staff can come together to share their lunch and engage in friendly conversations. This picnic fosters a sense of community and provides an opportunity for individuals to connect with one another.
Encourage Random Acts of Kindness (RAK): Throughout the day, encourage participants to engage in random acts of kindness towards others. Whether it’s holding the door open, complimenting someone, or helping a peer, small gestures can make a big difference in creating a positive atmosphere. Download our Kindness Bingo here.
Buddy with Someone from a Different Year-Group: Pair individuals from different year groups or departments to foster new friendships and promote inclusivity. This activity encourages participants to step out of their comfort zones and connect with others they may not interact with regularly. These new partners could engage in making friendship bracelets or play a game together.
Fundraising: If you wish to fundraise on YOU CAN SIT WITH ME Day, consider writing “YOU CAN SIT WITH ME” in big letters in chalk on the playground floor and ask the school community to cover it in gold coins. Please send your donations in through this link. The funds raised will be used to extend the YOU CAN SIT WITH ME programs and outreach.
